The first time I experienced this rash, it was on my buttocks, & spread to cover an area about 8 inches across. The eruptions since that time can be as small as a single blister, about the size of the ball-point end of a pen, or they can be dozens of blisters. If more than one blister is present, they are clusters, not stripes of blisters (I have experienced poison ivy before also) It usually begins erupting around mid May or early-June, and continues for 5 months. The individual blisters take about 5 weeks to go away, but the area will remain red & flaky for another month or so.I have tried various topical treatments, including calamine, benedryl lotion, cortisone creams (OTC & prescription strength) and triamcinolone creams. I have also taken a number of oral medications, including benadryl, claratin, cimetidine, atarax and others. Maby a food alergy. Something as simple a a preservative or additive in your foods that are unavoidable. Have you ever been treated for Mites or Scabies, perhaps herpies. I think many people get these kind of out breaks and there is no cure or remedy. Just keep a good personal hygiene and use lotion many health problems we face today seem to be hereditary that may even skip a generation or so, so you may not know if your Great Grandfather or his Grandfather suffered from these same outbreaks. As difficult as it may be to deal with it that may be your only option.

at first it sounded like shingles but then toward the end it started sounding more like eczema. also there are some STD's that might cause that and last so many years. would be a good idea to get allergy tested too.have you been tested for psoriasis, dermatomyositis, herpes, and impetigo?

It sounds like eczema to me, do you have an allergy to latex?? I was using latex gloves at work and it got so my hands were a bloody mess, it was allergy related. Also psoriasis has a pus filled type that happens on the hands and feet. metabethazone works best on that.
