I have been taking taking pain killers for my cervical spondulosis and other related pain for the past few years. I stopped taking celebrex for the past one year since my reflux problem in my stomach. I started taking celebrex since yesterday as I cannot bear the pain in my joints and muscles in the whole of my right hand. Will retaking celebrex hurt my stomach in any way. Since I am taking Omeprazole for my stomach now, will it protact my stomach from pain killers. Is there any other safer relief for the killing pain in the whole of my right hand, as I feeling crippled.

You should always talk to your doctor(s) about your drug regimen. Celebrex is a strong NSAID (non steroidial anti-inflammatory) which is great for my knees. How much celebrex are you taking? You may need a stronger proton pump inhibitor than prilosec (opeprazole) like Nexium (esomeprazole), though it is much more expensive and not OTC. What about steroids? What about muscle relaxants? Amitriptyline (Elavil) helps some people with chronic pain though it's action is unkown and an off label use. What about physical therapy/soft cervical collar? Heat/ultrasound? It's impossible to really have specific advice with no details on drug dosage, kidney function, overall health, current list of medications or supplements. Best to talk to your doctor.

I wish you well and relief from your pain. Pain is awful,chronic pain is crippling in many ways, including self-image and can lead to depression, certainly this isn't news to you though.

I take celebrex it really does a body good. But you must understand I have been instructed to take celebrex threw my physician remember never take any medication with out the permission of a licensed physician and yes it really does help me.YOU really need to talk to a doctor about this matter seriously good luck hope you find relief.

The omeprazole is probably strong enough to protect you, if not you can swith to aciphex, if you still have the same problem(reflux). Definately take the celebrex or swith to a different pain med than the celebrex and see if that causes the same amountt of reflux.
