So I've had diarrhea since yesterday evening. Woke up around 5:30 this morning and had to go to the bathroom. It was a whole lot of blood. Then it happened again, so I left for the ER. They ran some blood tests and all looks good. Urine test show a somewhat elevated white blood cell count. The doctor checked my rectum and said there didn't appear to be any bleeding. Now, I get home eat a little and drink some and immeadiately have to go to the bathroom. Once again, it's bright red blood, all liquid, nothing solid. I'm scared, but don't really feel sick. I was sent home with Imodium and Cipro. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

you could have a lesion in your rectum or a "popped" hemorrhoid. If it is either the irritation from going to the bathroom would cause it to bleed. And when the blood falls into the water of the toilet it makes it look like there is alot more blood than there really is. This has happened to me several times. And I too went to the ER and they too said nothing was wrong. That is one possible reason. I am not a doctor.

Go to another doctor asap do not wait. Get a second opinion. It is your health do not quit until you get an acceptable answer and treatment.

I am not a doctor or nurse but all I can tell you is that I had a virus a few years ago with exactly the same symptoms.I went to the doctors and he said unless the blood was dark red (burst ulcer ) there was nothing to worry about. Mine was bright red.Next day I felt worse so I went to the hospital and they said the same.I felt really ill with this for about 6 weeks, don't do what I did though.Some-one recommended I take medication to stop the diaorrhea, I did and I'm convinced that if I hadn't taken it and just let it flush out of my system I would have got over it a lot quicker.
