Yes, Benadryl and Unisom may both contain the same chemical Diphenhydramine hydrochloride. If you take both together, or in quick succession, you are essentially overdosing. Because not all preparations of these two OTCs contain the same active ingredients, you should check the packaging to see if they contain Diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Taking these two drugs together can have the following side effects: 1.) Glaucoma2.) Stomach Ulcer3.) Enlarged Prostate, Bladder control issues, difficulty urinating4.) Hyperthyroidism5.) AsthmaAdding Paxil to the mix can cause the following:1.) Nausea 10% of patients studied2.) Anxiety 9.74% of patients studied3.) Depression 8.80% of patients studied4.) These are all Paxil side effects, and can lead to much more serious side effects even when you are not adding other drugs to the mix. Sounds to me like you need to be switched to a new drug immediately.
